Finnish Sauna

The Finnish sauna is the most popular type of sauna in the world. It is a form of “dry sauna,” meaning that the wood-paneled interior is heated by a wood-burning or electric stove, along with heat-retaining stones placed on top of the heater. The primary purpose of the sauna is to reach very high temperatures (60–80ºC), which increases the heart rate (comparable to walking), stimulates blood circulation, and flushes toxins from the body through sweating.

If you have poor circulation, a weekly sauna session can help eliminate toxins and lead to radiant skin.

Depending on the benefits you wish to achieve, you should determine the frequency and duration of your sauna use. Keep in mind that, despite its beneficial effects, the sauna is contraindicated for certain health conditions.

Infrared Sauna

This sauna, which operates using infrared technology, is more effective because the heat penetrates deeper into the skin. Only 20% of the radiation heats the air, while the remaining 80% heats the body. It penetrates deep into the skin, providing a pleasant relaxation for the body and proving effective in alleviating various types of pain. It slows down the aging process, boosts growth hormone levels, and is recommended for individuals with heart conditions, arthritis, eczema, and chronic fatigue. The benefits of an infrared sauna are achieved at lower temperatures than those of a conventional sauna, making it a more suitable option for people who cannot tolerate the high heat found in other types of saunas or steam rooms.

Steam Bath

Steam baths are enclosed, humid spaces heated by steam. While temperatures can vary, steam rooms are typically maintained between 45°C and 50°C. The steam bath is an ancient method for achieving balance between mind and body; it aids in cleansing the body and eliminating toxins, while also improving blood circulation, metabolism, respiratory function, and immunity. A steam bath can benefit your health in several ways:

– It opens the pores. The warm condensation removes dirt and dead skin cells, leaving the skin clean, hydrated, and more even-toned. It is recommended to use a steam bath prior to cosmetic treatments to ensure better absorption of skincare products.

– It improves cardiovascular health. Research indicates that moist heat enhances circulation, particularly in the extremities. Improved circulation can lead to lower blood pressure and a healthier heart. While a steam bath can have a beneficial effect on the body, please note that it is not a medical treatment.

Furthermore, it is important to be aware that steam baths may not be suitable for individuals with certain health conditions, those who are pregnant, or those recovering from surgery, among other cases.

For an enhanced effect, it is recommended to follow your session with a cool contrast shower.
